HSE Manager

The Role

The HSE Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining our health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and industry best practices. This role works closely with operations, project managers, and site supervisors to proactively manage risk and promote a strong, field-driven safety culture.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the company’s HSE programs across all civil construction projects
  • Ensure full compliance with WorkSafeBC, COR, and applicable provincial and federal regulations
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, hazard assessments, and risk evaluations
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Develop and deliver safety training, orientations, and toolbox talks
  • Support project teams with safe work procedures, JHAs, and environmental controls
  • Maintain HSE documentation, records, and reporting metrics
  • Promote continuous improvement and a positive, accountable safety culture

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years of HSE experience in civil construction or heavy construction
  • Strong working knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and COR requirements
  • CRSP, NCSO, or equivalent safety designation (preferred)
  • Proven experience working directly with field crews and project leadership
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites within BC
